James E. Lick, age 51, of Brainerd died Monday, September 1, 2008 at his home. Funeral srvices will be Friday, September 5, at 11 am, at the Salvation Army Church in Brainerd, with Major Jeff Strickler officiating. Friends may visit at the church during the hour prior to services. Interment with full military honors will follow, at Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery near Little Falls.
James Everett Lick was born April 30, 1957 in Brainerd, to Everett and Frances (Johnson) Lick. After graduating from high school he enlistd in the Navy, where he served as an Electrician Fireman aboard the USS Piedmont. He was united in marriage to Debra Williams in Brainerd on June 3, 1978. Jim worked doing construction labor for twenty years and then as a Forty-niner heavy equipment operator for twelve years. His family was very important to him, and he especialy loved being "Grandpa" for the past few years.
James is survived by Debra, his loving wife of 30 years; his mother, Frances Lick, of Brainred; his children, Justin (Jasmine Winkelman) Lick, of Brainerd, David (Erin) Lick, of Brainerd, Erin (Scott) Johnston, of Brainerd, and Alisha (William Denny) Lick, of Brainerd; his grandchildren, Madyson and Ashton Lick and Cayden Winkelman; and his sisters, Janice (Jim) Kerley, of AZ, and Jeanie (Doug) Collins, of Aitkin.
