James M. JimLarson, age 77, of Brainerd died Thursday, January 25, 2007, surrounded by his three sons, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village. Memorial services will be Tuesday, January 30, at 11 am, at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Reverend Mark Kleckner officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Monday, January 29 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Camp Ripley, with full military honors provided by the Brainerd VFW, Post 1647 and the Brainerd American Legion, Post 255.
Jim Larson was born November 30, 1929 in Brainerd, to Ludwig and Sadie (Brandl) Larson. He grew up and attended school in Brainerd. He was united in marriage to Margie Orvala, and was widowed when Margie passed away in 1996. He served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the City of Brainerd Public Utilities for 37 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He also belonged to the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting and fishing, and was a fan of solving puzzles and game shows. He was a loving father and grandfather, and will be deeply missed.
Jim is survived by his sons, Michael Larson, Brainerd, Kevin Larson, Brainerd, and Brian (Sandy) Larson, Baxter; grandchildren, Shawn, Ashley, Daniel, Nick, and Hannah Larson; siblings, Helen Parsons, Hayward, CA, and Larry Larson, Livermore, CA; and special friend, Rosie Robison, Brainerd. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and six siblings. Services entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
