James E. Blake, age 85, of Pillager, MN, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, in Brainerd, MN. A Memorial Service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held on Friday April 11, 2025 at 11:00AM at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter, MN. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service at the church. Burial will be at Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager. 

Jim was born on June 20, 1939, to Emery and Lillian Blake. He married his beloved wife, Darlene, on August 25, 1961, in Minneapolis, MN. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

An avid fisherman and passionate football fan, Jim found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His career as a heavy equipment operator spanned many years, during which he earned the respect and admiration of those he worked alongside.

Jim is survived by his children: Jeffery (Kirsten) of Brainerd, MN; Brian (Lisa) of Coon Rapids, MN; Craig (Shelly) of Wyoming, MN; and Peggy of Sauk Rapids, MN. He was a proud grandfather to several grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Lillian Blake; wife Darlene; siblings: Marvin, Willis, Dale, Harry, Orrie, and Betty.

The family is deeply grateful for the love and support extended during this difficult time. Jim’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
