James Hummel, age 80, of Pine River, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society, Pine River. He was born in Hague, ND, to Henry and Gladys Hummel on June 13, 1931. James married Edith Hanus in Minneapolis on May 19, 1956. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the US Air Force. James was an economic developer, was self-employed and an entrepreneur for many years. He was also a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Colombus.
James is survived by his wife, Edith; children: Kevin Hummel (Jean), Lisa Poirier (Paul), Keith Hummel (Tammy); grandchildren: Angela Pollock, Nick Hummel, Natasha Deneau, Marc Hummel, Eric Schumacher, Reagan Hummel; great grandchildren: Ethan, Collin, Sophia; and sister, Marcella Waterman (Russ).
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Hummel; and sister, Mary Ann Nelson.
Services will be 11 AM on Saturday, June 2, at St. Alice Catholic Church, Pequot Lakes, with Father George Zeck officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 PM, with prayer service at 7 PM, at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River, and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
