James P. Friedl, age 75, of Motley, passed away at the Lakewood Health System Hospital, on Thursday, October 6. A memorial service will be held at the Brenny Funeral Home in Randall on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 2:00PM with a visit one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jim was born on March 10, 1935, in Goodwin, SD, to Ludwig and Anna (Fremekberger) Friedl. On June 21, 1956, Jim married Marlene Newmaster, and they made their home in Falcon Heights. There they raised two children. He worked for Schmidt Brewery for over 25 years, retiring in 1987. In 1988 he and Marlene moved up to Lake Shamineau fulltime. After retiring, Jim still did handy work for people in the area, cutting down small trees and other projects. He also enjoyed fishing.
Jim is survived by his wife, Marlene; grandson, Shawn (Dawn) Albrecht, great grandchildren, Michael and Megan Albrecht; brothers, Sylvester (Toni) and Joseph (Beverly); sister-in-law, Dorothy Friedl; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth; daughter, Melinda Taggatz; and 12 siblings.
