James Freeman

James (Jim) R. Freeman, 84, of Brainerd died on Saturday, November 13, 2011 at Good Samaritan Village - Bethany in Brainerd. Services for Jim will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd at 11:00 AM with Pastor Andy Smith officiating. Visitation will be held at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Interment will be at The Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery in Little Falls.

James was born on March 31, 1927 in Minneapolis the son of the late J. Ralph and Cora (Klinger) Freeman. He entered the US Navy during WWII. After his honorable discharge he was united into marriage to Ida Mae Hines on September 29, 1949. Jim worked for Potlatch for 38 years. Ida Mae passed away on October 28, 1995 after 46 years of marriage. Jim was united into marriage to Arlene Hartman on June 6, 1997 in Brainerd.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Jim also loved wood working and spending time with his friend, Norman Roscoe. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.

Jim is survived by his wife, Arlene; children, Greg (Debbie) Freeman of Seattle, Washington and Jackie (Jim)Range of LaCross, Wisconsin; five step-children; Larry (Peggy) Hartman of Crosby, Minnesota, Wayne (Leta) Hartman of Fort Ripley, Minnesota, Sandra (Tim) Lander of Merrifield, Minnesota, Mike Hartman of Nisswa, Minnesota and Nancy (Greg) Gates of Fort Ripley, Minnesota; sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Ralph and Cora; first wife, Ida Mae; and brother, Leland.
