James Brunes

James W. Brunes, 90, died March 22, 2013, at home in Pequot Lakes. He was born August 26, 1922, in Pequot Lakes, to August and Beda Brunes. He married Allison Arvig on June 15, 1941.

James was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Marion Anderson (Dr. Theodore), Lawrence, Arthur, Phillip; son, Bruce; and grandchildren Jericho Royce and Jeremy Brunes.

He is survived by his wife, Allison; children: Gary Brunes, Diane Brunes, Galeen Royce (Thomas), Patricia Kline (Roger), Eric Brunes; daughter-in-law, Barb Brunes sister, Joyce Peterson (Harold); 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Jim retired as plant superintendent of Arvig Telecom at the age of 63. He and his wife traveled extensively, often with friends, wintered in Texas and Arizona and spent summers in Crosslake. An avid outdoors couple, they enjoyed hunting and fishing and traveling into remote places.

He was on the founding board and served as chairman of KTIG radio station in Pequot Lakes.

A Christian all of his life, Jim was a member of the Gideons for many years and also ministered in the jails, being a positive role model for all the lives he touched.

Services will be 11 AM on Wednesday, March 27, at Pequot Lakes Baptist Church. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine River. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes, and one hour prior to services at the church.
