On May 3, 2011 at 78 years old, James D. Anderson left behind his earthly body to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend whose great delight in life was making others chuckle and smile. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Myrt Anderson, his son Ricky R. Anderson, and grandchildren Doug Stansberry and Kati Knudson. Jim is survived by his devoted wife Corrine A. of 39 years, daughters, Christy Funk Anderson (Jim), Bobbi Hopkins (Bob), Tammy Thomas (Steve), Kelly Subialka (Tony), Patty Anderson-Martinotti, 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, Sister Joann Quam (Bob), Brother Vince Anderson, along with special friends Bev & Art Voss, Adrian & Audrey Beltrand, and Bruce and Jan Anderson.
Jim was born and raised in the beautiful Gull Lake area and joined the US Navy and proudly served during the Korean War on the USS Zellers and the USS Sierra. After the service he lived in the Minneapolis and Bloomington areas working and raising his family. Jim's passion early in life was cars - fast cars. He sold, restored and raced them and loved spending time fixing anything with a motor in it for all the kids to ride on. He spent many years clearing the pond of snow in the winter for skating and making sure the dock was sturdy for swimming in the summer for all the neighborhood kids. He moved his family back to the Gull Lake area in the early 70's where he and his wife Corrine started Anderson Motors and the Soft Touch Carwash and served the area for many years. Jim made friends where ever he went and loved to tease and tell wonderful stories with a twinkle in his eye. He spent his last years between Minnesota and Scottsdale AZ enjoying the beauty of the desert mountain view in his backyard while listening to music and working on one of his many projects.
Jim had many health issues and doctor appointments in his last few years but he knew everyone where he went by name and lifted the hearts and spirits of people wherever he went. You have been an example of courage to us and taught us how to face whatever may come our way and how to do it while making friends along the way. We will miss you and your smile until the day we meet again to dance with you and Jesus.
