Sergeant Jacob Loren Pfingsten died while on military duty February 12, 2005 at the University of Regensburg Hospital in Regensburg, Germany after a short illness. Funeral service Saturday, 11 am at Family of God Lutheran Church, 8625 Zane Ave N. Brooklyn Park. Visitation Friday 4-8 pm at Evans Nordby Funeral Home, 34 ? 2nd St. NE Osseo (763-424-4000) and 1 hour prior at the church.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, February 22 at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Reverend Mitchell Krog officiating. Visitation will be Monday, February 21 from 4-8 p.m. at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Interment will follow services on Tuesday at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at Camp Ripley, Minnesota. Military honors will be provided by the Minnesota National Guard Honor Guard Unit 2-147 Aviation.
Jacob was born September 5, 1982 to Thomas and LaDonna (Goetze) Pfingsten in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. Jacob was a 2001 graduate of Brainerd High School where he participated in band, track and football. He attended the Minnesota State Patrol Cadet Academy in 1999, was a member of the Crow Wing County Police Explorers, a member of Brainerd Tae Kwon Do, and a member of the Crow Wing Squadron of Civil Air Patrol. He loved flying and earned his pilots license at the age of 17.
In 2000, Jacob received the Distinguished Service Award for Brainerd Outstanding Youth Volunteer of the Year. Jacob was a third year student at ST. Cloud State University majoring in aviation. He was a member of Alpha Eta Rho, the aviation fraternity at SCSU. He was a field training officer for the SCSU Public Safety Department and was active with Lutheran Student Fellowship.
Jacob entered the Minnesota Army National Guard and began basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina on September 11, 2001. He served as an Aviation Operations Specialist with HHC2-147 General Support Aviation Battalion based in St. Paul, MN.
He attended Family of God Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Park, MN and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Baxter, MN.
He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Pfingsten, of Baxter, MN, LaDonna and Randy Blackorbay, of Maple Grove, MN; sisters, Jolene (Greg) Parks, of Brainerd, Sarah Pfingsten, of Brainerd; grandparents, Mary Lou Pfingsten, of Brainerd, MN, Truman and Jean Bowen, of Glenwood, MN, and Marlene Blackorbay, of Maple Grove, MN. Jacob will also be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
