"Jackie" Schimpp

“Jackie” Edith Jacqueline Schimpp, 79, of Staples, MN, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018 at her home. Her celebration of life will be held Tuesday, February 27, at 11:00 am at Thomastown Covenant Church in rural Staples. Friends may visit on Monday, February 26 from 5-7:00 pm at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples.

Jackie was born on August 21, 1938 in Glendive, MT, to Ernest and Edith Johnson. Jackie’s mother passed away when she was two years old. Ernest later married Alice Bureau, who was a loving mother. She grew up in Bloomfield, MT. Later, the family moved to Foley, MN, where she graduated from high school in 1955. She attended the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing and became licensed as a registered nurse. Jackie was married to Russell Schimpp on May 21, 1960 in Foley. In 1974 Russ, Jackie and their three daughters moved to Staples, MN. Jackie worked as a paraprofessional for several years in the Staples-Motley school district. She also worked as a server at Tower Pizza for 17 years. Jackie loved crossword puzzles, Scrabble, and any other games. She was always on the look-out for the perfect antique. Her love for flowers was apparent in her beautiful gardens.

Most important to Jackie was her strong faith in God. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and serving in any area where she could show her love for Jesus.

Jackie is survived by her loving family which includes her husband Russ, her children Tammi (Russ) Walz of Staples, Terri (Gordon) Fix, of Vining, MN and Casa Grande, AZ, and Traci Cooper and her fiancée Chad Wolski of Baxter, MN; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; her sisters, Teeny Siegle of Glendive, MT, Gerri Olson of Fargo, ND, Pat (Floyd) Henrikson of Wadena, MN, and Maureen O'Shea of CA; and her brother Gregg (Amy) Johnson of Duluth, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Barbara Nissley, Bessie Mullet, and Babe Buck; and a brother, Paul Johnson.
