Irma Dunbar, of Crosslake, died Saturday, January 24, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Memorial services will be Thursday, January 29, 11 AM, at Emily United Methodist Church, with Reverend Fayetta Maki officiating. Friends may visit at the church for one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Pinewood Cemetery in Emily.
Irma Sophia Buchite Dunbar was born June 21, 1915 in Fifty Lakes, to Samuel and Mary (Helbering) Buchite. She was united in marriage to Harry Dunbar on July 17, 1935, in Brainerd. Irma worked for many years as a waitress, at Neubert?s Café in Outing and at Duffy?s Restaurant (now Andy?s) in Crosslake. She was a member of the Emily United Methodist Church, and was active in ladies groups at church. With her sewing group, she made many quilts for the needy. She was a member of Crow Wing County RSVP. For many years, she volunteered with the Fifty Lakes Helping Hand Club, which was founded by her mother. Irma enjoyed gardening, berry-picking, and fishing. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and enjoyed providing treats for her family and friends.
Irma is survived by four children, Robert (Una) Dunbar, of Merrifield, Rozella (Norbert) Matros, of Fifty Lakes, Rosemarie Matros, of Crosslake, and Samuel Dunbar, of Emily; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry, in 1972; a son, David, in 1986; a grandson, Dwight, in 1995; five sisters; and four brothers. Arrangements entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
