Our beloved aunt, Irene Domico, age 97, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2016, at Hills Crossing in Nisswa, MN. Irene was born on September 6, 1918, graduated from South St. Paul High School and worked at Swifts & Company.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Sida and Peter Opris: husband, Anthony Domico; sister, Mary Piekarski; brother, John Opris: and niece, Betty Maine. Survived by her three nieces: Julie (Piekarski) Schultz and husband, Jerry, Kathy Chapin and husband, Roger, Connie Piekarski; great nieces and nephews: Susan (Schultz) Scharenbroich and husband, Mark, Mary Causse and husband, Joe, Jerry Mark Schultz and wife, Ako, Jody Dickmeyer and husband, Craig, Sara and Seth Chapin; and thirteen great-great nieces and nephews.
Her friends and family members will always remember her wit, honesty and calling it like it was. Not surprisingly, the Hills Crossing staff named Irene as their favorite "sassy" resident.
A private family service to celebrate Irene's life will take place this summer.
