Inez Olson

Inez Olson, 99, of Staples, MN passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples, MN. Services for Inez will be 10:30AM, Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples, with Pastor Steve Sveom officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7PM, Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples and also one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Balsamlund Cemetery in Aldrich, MN.

Inez was born August 29, 1916 to Claus and Mamie (Lindblom) Chilberg in Aldrich, MN. She attended Country School #136 in Aldrich. Inez was united in marriage to Edward Olson on March 1, 1936 at Balsamlund Lutheran Church in Aldrich, MN. They lived on the farm south of Aldrich, before moving to Staples. Inez worked as a nursing assistant at Lakewood Care Center and retired when she was in her 70's. After her retirement, she did in home care. Inez lived at the Highrise in Staples and then at the Care Center for the last couple of years. She was very talented in her favorite hobby of knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, and aquasizing at the Community Center. She was a hard worker, made her own soap, a carpenter, and was currently the oldest member of Faith Lutheran Church for the past few years. Inez was very independent; she had a mind of her own. She loved to travel; she went to see Queen Elizabeth in Canada in 1970, and traveled to Alaska and many other places.

Inez is survived by her daughters, Joann (Dale) Current of Bertha, MN, Marilyn (Dean) Paskewitz of Staples, MN; seven grandchildren, Scott (Kathy) Current of Browerville, MN, Kathy (Gary) Kleen of Bertha, MN, Neil (Reeva) Paskewitz of Rathrum, ID, Debra (Jerry) Nelson of Bertha, MN, Tim (Renee) Current of Bertha, MN, Sharon (Kevin) Thiel of Staples, MN, Lee (Ashley) Current of Staples, MN; 13 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; siblings, Marian Fuller of Staples, MN, Herman Chilberg of Clarissa, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claus and Mamie Chilberg; siblings, Edna, Ruth, Alice, Myrtle, Mildred, Hazel; husband, Edward in 1984; and grandson, Todd Steven Current. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
