Howard James Strahl, 90 passed away in his residence at Highland Senior Living, in Little Falls, MN on Saturday, September 15, 2012. He was born in Broweville, Minnesota on January 26, 1922, to Anna (Steinert) and James Strahl.
Howard married June Joan Lattimer on February 7, 1955. They lived on their 160 acre farm in Fort Ripley where they raised their son Jim for 10 years. They then moved off the farm to their home of 43 years on County Road 49, so it was more convenient for Howard to get to work during the long winter months.
Howard worked at Camp Ripley for 38 years as a grounds keeper and will always be remembered for his hard work ethic. He and June enjoyed camping and fishing during the Summer months with their Grandchildren. They also loved to travel to Wisconsin as well as out West to visit family and friends. Howard enjoyed keeping busy working on the yard and gardening, but spending time with his family was what brought him the most joy.
Survivors include his wife June, son Jim and wife Birdie of Fort Ripley; grandchildren Amber Rausch and husband Matt, Oliver Strahl and wife Vanessa, both of Fort Ripley and Kyle Strahl of Clyde Park, Montana; great-grandchildren Faith, Ella, Mason, Summer and Wyatt. He is also survived by his sister Florence Bellamy of Little Falls; half-sister Virginia Griego of Salt Lake City, Utah; half-sister Loretta Giilbertson of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; half-sister Karen Malone of Waupaca, Wisconsin and half-brother Glen Strahl of Minnesota.
