Howard Austin

Howard LeRoy Austin, 85, of Brainerd, passed away on March 4, 2024. Services will be held at 11am on Monday, March 11^th, at the Merrifield Community Church with Ron Christianson presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.

Howard was born on November 4, 1938, to Lee and Ann (Carter) Austin in Brainerd. He joined the Army after high school and was a class A welder for Union Boiler Makers in Ramsey.

Howard enjoyed being outside whether he was fishing, hunting, or four wheeling. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Minnesota Twins, and the Vikings. Howard had many dogs throughout his life and was a friend to everyone. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Howard is survived by his children, Alan (Mary) Austin, Steve Asmussen; seven grandchildren; many great and great great grandchildren; siblings, Eileen (Bob) Engebretson, Arlene Curo, Brenda (Terry) Sibbert, Lawrence (Linda Rono); and his furry companion, border collie, Pal. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilbert Austin, Gerald Austin; and infant granddaughter, Jolene Marie.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
