Herbert Lee Owens, 75, of Baxter, formerly of Minneapolis, died September 4, 2008 at Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Village in Pine River. A Celebration of Herbs Life will be at 11 AM, Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the Lakes Area Senior Center in Brainerd. Light Refreshments will be served.
Herbert Lee Owens was born November 11, 1932 in Minneapolis, MN the son of Andrew and Alice Owens. After graduating school and attending technical college, Herb worked for Honeywell for many years. Three years ago he and Doloris left the hectic life on the cityto enjoy his dream of living on the lake. Many will remember Herb for his famous chicken and ribs. He enjoyed fishing. Herb was a history buff, you would be hard-pressed to find someone who knew more or enjoyed researching as much as him.
Herb will be missed by his wife, Doloris, of Baxter; his sons, Michael Owens, of Minneapolis and Jason (Denise) Owens, of Chanhassen, MN; grandchildren, Jackson, Marcus, and Kennedy; siblings, Geraldine Owens, Alice Nelson, and Andrew Owens; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Winston.
