Hank Kargel, 77, of Randall, died Monday, March 20, 2017 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 25, 2017 at St. James Catholic Church in Randall. Fr. Jimmy Joseph will officiate. Family and friends are invited to gather starting at 9:30 AM at the church. Interment will take place at Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery near Camp Ripley.
Henry Michael Kargel was born February 18, 1940, in Bloomington, MN, the son of Arthur and Myrtle (Huber) Kargel. After graduating from Bloomington High School, Hank enlisted in the US Navy and served his country for 20 years. In 1968, he was united in marriage to Karleen Sandry while stationed in Hawaii. After his honorable discharge, Hank worked for Control Data, Ziegler, and the US Post Office while living in Minneapolis. He and Karleen moved to Randall in 1981. Hank worked at Camp Ripley and St. James Catholic Church. He liked fishing, woodworking, and country and polka music. Family was important and he cherished his time with his daughters and grandchildren.
He will be missed by his wife, Karleen; daughters, Sheila Kargel, of Minneapolis and Kelly (Jeff) Salak, of Forest Lake; grandchildren, Kiefer, Brenna, Niav and Keagan; sisters, Rita (Kendall) Bradford and Lucinda “Cindy” (Melvin) Remer; and brothers, Roger Kargel and Gerold (Patricia) Kargel. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Caroline, Susan, and Rose.
