Helen Tolbert

Helen Tolbert, 87, of Pierz, formerly of Brainerd, died Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Pierz Villa. Private family services.

Helen was born November 26, 1925, in Trommald, MN, the daughter of Louis and Martha (Stakitch) Platisha. She was married to James Tolbert on September 16, 1945 in Seattle, WA. The couple lived in Brainerd for many years where Helen worked as a psychiatric aide for the state hospital for 14 years. Helen was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the casino. She loved spending time with her family - especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be missed by her children, James (Sandra) Tolbert, of Pierz and Ruby (Pete) Hansen, of Milaca; brother, Eli (Virginia) Platisha, of Deerwood; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; brothers, Bud and Mike Platisha; and sisters, Annie Popovich, Ruby Lofgren; and Dessie Mooers.
