Helen Kempenich, of Randall, passed away Wednesday morning, October 10, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Monday, Oct. 15, at St. James Catholic Church in Randall with Reverend Father Raymond Donnay officiating. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday with Rosary and Parish Prayers at the Randall Funeral Home in Randall and also for one hour prior to services at the Church on Monday.
Helen Kathryn Kempenich was born on July 21, 1923, in Darling, MN, the daughter of George and Evelyn (Olson) Wippler. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. On February 14, 1946, she was united in marriage to Francis Kempenich in St. James Catholic Church at Randall. To this union 4 children were born. Helen and Frank were able to share 55 years of marriage together before he passed away in 2001. During the War Helen did sewing in Wisconsin and for Munsingwear in Little Falls while Frank was in the Service. She also ran the family farm making sure everything was taken care of on schedule during the time Frank worked on road construction. In 1975 they moved to Randall where she did cooking and catering at the V.F.W. and Senior Center. Among the things she enjoyed doing were handicrafts, sewing, and cooking. She was a lifetime member of St. James Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Evelyn; husband, Frank; son, Phillip; infant daughters, Theresa Marie and Mary Genevieve; sisters, Verna Witt and Dorothy in infancy; and brothers, Jim, Jack, Frank, Albert, Louis, and Robert (Pete). Helen is mourned in passing by her children, Elizabeth (Corky) Erickson of Long Prairie and Margaret (Bob) Voge of McGregor, adopted son, Michael Kempenich Wind; grandchildren, Dawn Brooks, Melissa (Patrick) Parkhill, Tammy Erickson, Dottie (Tim) Herrick, Cory (Amy) Erickson, LaDonna Steidl, Jason (Manu) Erickson, Holly (Shawn) Koroll and Heidi (Steve) Dambacher; 21+ great grandchildren; brother, Tom Wippler; and sisters, Margaret Klinker, Betty Dugas, and Louise Stavish.
