Helen Anderson

Helen C. Anderson, age 61, of Merrifield passed away Monday, August 04, 2008, at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Celebration of Helens Lifeis planned for Saturday, August 9, 2008, at her home, 27153 County Road 3, Merrifield, MN, from 2:00 until 5:00 PM. There will be a short program at 2:00 followed by a time of sharing until 5:00.
Helen Christine Anderson was born on March 27, 1947, in Cavalier, ND, the daughter of Jonathan Danand Leona (Hiebert) Thorberger. She graduated from Cavalier High School and went on to receive her Bachelors Degree in Music from North Dakota State University. On March 9, 1968, she was united in marriage to Steve Anderson in Fargo, ND. They were able to share 40 years of marriage together. Helen taught music in many schools including Chaffee, ND, Kinney, Lancaster, Goodridge, Backus, and Brainerd, MN. She was a member of the Minnesota Music Teachers Association, and a supporter of the Wildlife Federation and the Arts. She was a founding member of the Central Lakes College Band where she played clarinet for many years. She was an avid gardener and was very concerned about preserving the local ecology.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Leona and a brother, Walter. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Steve; children, Kevin (Sally Bertholson) of Unalaska, AK, and Kia (Richard) Dossey of Durango, CO; grandchildren, Tayler and Mary; and brothers, Robert and Loran.
