Hazel Larson

Hazel M. Larson of Merrifield, Minnesota passed away peacefully at her home on Horseshoe Lake, November 26, 2011, surrounded by her immediate family. Beloved wife, mother and friend, Hazel was born in Bird Island, Minnesota on September 1, 1928, the daughter of Hugo and Mary Lidbeck. As a young woman she moved to Minneapolis where she worked at NSP and met Elmer Larson, her devoted husband of sixty years. Hazel embodied the joy of living; she could make people happy with her presence alone. We will miss her remarkable musicianship, her radiant smile and endless desire to harmonize. She is survived by husband, Elmer Larson, daughter Randi Larson (husband Michael Ballen) of Hollister, California, son Kurt Larson (wife Laurie Testin) of Taylors Falls, Minnesota and son James Larson (wife Rosa) of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Hazel fought a courageous three-year battle with brain cancer. Thanks to our dear friends and staff at Heartland Hospice for their support. A memorial service will be held at Crosslake Lutheran Church in Crosslake, Minnesota on Saturday, December 3 at noon. Visitation will be at 11 A.M with lunch to follow the service.
