Hazel Fleisher

Hazel Alice (Rick) Fleisher, 77, of Staples died Oct. 21st, 2013 at the Lakewood Care Center with her husband and family at her side. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 25th at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Joe Korf officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 24th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples, with prayers at 6:45.

Hazel was born on Dec. 8th, 1935 in Breckenridge, MN to Harold Fred and Alice Magdalene (Neuman) Rick. She grew up in Everdell and attended Breckenridge High School. On June 19th, 1958, Hazel married the love of her life, Fred Eugene Fleisher. They made their home north of Staples where they lived until 1972. They then moved into Staples. Hazel and Fred have 4 children - Michael John (Kelly) Fleisher of Staples; Donna Lynne Hanson of Leader; Deborah Ann (Scott) Hart of Henning; and Doreen Kaye (Alex) Kropuenske of Staples. Hazel loved spending time with her children and her 12 grandchildren: Shannon, Jenny, Ethan, Cody, Becky, Jordynne, Brendan, Nathan, Hayden, Allyson, Paige and Ryan. She worked many jobs throughout her lifetime. She wrote the North Staples news for the Staples World, cleaned houses, babysat and worked at Longbella Drug store in Staples. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Church in Staples where she practiced her strong faith in her Savior. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, visiting, playing cards and bingo, listening to music and going to the casino. She brought joy to everyone she met and she will be dearly missed.

Hazel is survived by her husband of 55 years, her four children, twelve grandchildren, three sisters, Marian (George) Greenwood of Moorhead, MN; Darlene (Gayle) Hennenfent of Nevada; Donna (John) Steer of Arkansas and one brother David (Bev) Rick of Fargo, ND, many nieces and nephews, brothers in law and sisters in law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Dennis, Harold Jr. and Duane, one sister, Delores, son-in-law, Rick Hanson, and a granddaughter, Emmi Rose.
