Hazel Leota Bullen, 79, of Plymouth died Saturday, April 5 at the Sholom Home West in St. Louis Park. Hazel was born May 20, 1923 in Lansing Michigan, to James and Grace (Metz) Dalton. She grew up and attended school near Lansing. She was united in marriage to Erle Bullen on July 7, 1943 at the Salinas Air Force Base in California. During her husband?s military service she lived in Lansing and in Savannah, Georgia. Following his honorable discharge they returned to Lansing. They moved to Isanti for a time and then, in 1957 moved to Plymouth. Hazel worked at home caring for her family. She was also the neighborhood ?mother?, providing day care for her friends and neighbors for many years.
Hazel Bullen is survived by Erle, her husband of 59 years; a daughter Marilyn Caward of Oregon City, OR; two sons: Lloyd (Mary) Bullen of Maple Grave and Carl (Patti) Bullen of Pequot Lakes; a sister Nina Wright of Holt, MI; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Her parents, a son Dennis, and brothers Ted, Bud, Gerald, and Elmer preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 9, 1:30 PM, at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis with Reverend Bob Ross. Arrangements are with Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
