Harry Knox

Harry Clifford Knox, 90, of Pine River, MN, formerly a resident of Webster City, IA, went to be with his Lord and Savior, April 28, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society, Pine River. Services will be 11 AM on Thursday, May 2, at Riverview Church, Pine River, and also at 11 AM on Saturday, May 4, at the First Baptist Church in Webster City, IA. Visitation will be one hour prior to each service.

Harry Clifford Knox, son of Charles and Hattie (Hildal) Knox, was born March 1, 1923, in Jewell, IA. He attended country schools in Hamilton and Hardin counties in Iowa. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army. Harry married Ruth Boynton on December 14, 1952, in Webster City, where they lived most of their married life. He was employed by the Peterson Construction Company for many years until his retirement in 1985.

Harry enjoyed motorcycles, hunting, trapping, fishing, camping, traveling, music and playing tunes on his fiddle. He also enjoyed spending vacation times and summers at their cabin in northern Minnesota, near Pine River. In 2009, Harry and Ruth decided to make the cabin their full time home, where Harry enjoyed spending time in his garden and watching the birds. He enjoyed making things with his hands, often making craft supplies for Bible school and Bible camp children.

Harry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Webster City, where he had served as a deacon and trustee. He was also a member of the Isaac Walton League in Webster City. While in Minnesota, Harry attended the Blind Lake Tabernacle in rural Pine River.

Harry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth; special family members, Lee and Sharon Lanz of Pine River, MN; their children: Nathaniel (Stacy) Lanz and son, Benjamin of Billings, MT, Skyler (Erin) Lanz of Burnsville, MN, Summer (Joshua) Daniels of Columbus, MT, Jedediah (Cree) Lanz of Billings, MT; six sisters: Sarah Fleming, Ruth Blair and Gladys Bell, all of Iowa Falls, IA, Esther (Bill) Murray and June Nemechek, both of Dayton, IA, Audrey (Elzy) Johnson of Woolstock, IA; sister-in-law, Martha Knox of Webster City, IA; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Jack, Charles, Donald; sister, Lela Haglund; brothers-in-law, Mike Bell, Gerald Blair, Dale Nemechek, Charles Fleming, Lyle Smith, Carl Haglund; and sister-in-law, Lois Knox.

Funeral arrangements are provided by Kline Funeral Home of Pine River, MN, and Foster Funeral Home of Webster City, IA. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers.
