Harriet Martin

November 3, 1925 — September 13, 2013

Harriet H. Neterval-Martin, 87, of Motley, died September 13, 2013 at Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 16, 2013 at Motley United Methodist Church with Pastor Greg Ciesluk officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services. Interment will take place at Motley Public Cemetery.

Harriet was born November 3, 1925, in National City, CA, the daughter of Harry and Jeannette (Gardiner) Wade. She grew up in California until she met and married Russell Neterval who was a Marine in WWII. After the war, they moved to Minnesota and in 1951 bought a farm in Motley. She was a devoted farmwife and mother. She enjoyed roller skating, square dancing, crocheting, gardening, cooking and raising her children. In 1963, her and Russ were in a plane crash in which Russ died. In 1991, she married Fred Martin.

Harriet is survived by three sons, Ed (Jolane) Neterval, of Ada, Russell (Jeanne) Neterval, of Cushing, and Rueben (Linda), of CA; daughter, Janice (Jeff) Barron, of Staples; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; numerous step-children and step-grandchildren; sister, Jeannette Nichols, of CA; brother, Harry Wade, of CA; special friend, Loren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Audrey; her husbands; parents; a brother; a sister; and a great great granddaughter.
