Harold Gilbert Turner, Jr., age 90, passed away December 3, 2021, in Brainerd. He was born May 17, 1931, in St. Paul, MN, to Harold Gilbert Turner, Sr. and Florence L. (Durgin) Turner. Harold grew up in Badger, MN, spending summers with paternal grandparents in Taylors Falls, MN. After graduating high school he served in the U.S Air Force. He worked many jobs including the Alaskan Highway, Minnesota Iron Range, Kiewel Brewery in Little Falls and many years with Dependable Excavating in the Twin Cities area. He was very involved with starting and coaching youth hockey in Eagan, MN, and was a longtime member and former commander of the Hackensack American Legion Post 202. He loved fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, socializing and having a good time with family and friends, along with his favorite pastime, splitting wood.
Harold is survived by his wife of 72 years, Betty L. (Svir) Turner; children: Carol (Greg), Marla (Gary), Alanna (Bob), Richard, Susan, and Timothy (Kim); 16 grandchildren: Troy, Tanja, Christine, Wesley, Stacy, Dena, Leslie, Wyatt, Nicola, Bodine, Jamie, Kaylie, Joshua, Layne, Abbie, Timothy J.; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lowell A. Turner; son, Roger L. Turner; daughter, Ila E. Doerfler; and grandson, George Bjorkland.
Services and private interment at Kahbakong Cemetery in Taylors Falls, MN, will be held at a later date.
