Harold Thiesse

April 4, 1930 — February 28, 2014

Harold Thiesse, of Brainerd, died Friday, February 28, 2014 at his home. Services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Family and friends are welcome to gather Sunday afternoon from 2-4 PM and one hour prior to services at the funeral chapel on Monday. A luncheon will follow at the Brenny Funeral Chapel Reception Room. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Brainerd VFW, Post 255 will be held at 1:30 PM at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd.

Harold was born April 4, 1930, in Rockville, MN, the son of Fred and Minnie (Gersch) Thiesse. The family moved to Brainerd early in Harold's life. Following his high school graduation, Harold enlisted in the US Army and served in Korea. In 1955, he was united in marriage to Alvina Porttiin. The couple made their home and raised their family on a dairy farm south of Brainerd. Farming was a passion for Harold and he enjoyed his farm equipment and riding his combine. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Aurora # 100.

He will be missed by his wife, Alvina; children, Bryan (Robin) Thiesse, of Brainerd, Clayton Thiesse, of Dayton, OH, Dion (Lynn) Thiesse, of Baxter, Ellyn (Dale) Duffy, of Hudson, WI, and Glynis (Chad Bohnenstingl) Thiesse, of Brainerd; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Herb Thiesse, of Brainerd, Wayne (Shirley) Thiesse, of Brainerd and Carol Schenk, of Willmar; and brother-in-law, Malon Wareing, of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Faith Marie; brothers, Kermit, Edwin, and Erwin; and sister, Ruby.
