Harold Schultenover

March 13, 1920 — April 4, 2008

Harold J. Schultenover, age 88, of Staples, passed away at the Lakewood Health Care Center in Staples, Friday, April 4, 2008. A Memorial Mass will be 10:00 AM Friday. April 18, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples with Fr. Peter Kirchner officiating. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.
Harold Joseph Schultenover was born March 13, 1920, at Mahnomen, MN the son of Norbert and Ann (Murphy) Schultenover. The family moved to Staples in the late 1920s where Harold grew up and graduated from Staples High School. Shortly after Pearl Harbor he was drafted into the U.S. Army serving in the European Theatre of Operations from February of 1942 until February of 1946. On October 11, 1947, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Wild in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Staples. To this union 2 sons, Ronald and Mark, were born. Harold and Gertrude were able to share over 60 years of marriage together. Returning from the Service he worked for the Northern Pacific and Burlington Northern Railroad until the time of his retirement. Harold was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, TCU, V.F.W., Moose Lodge and Narve. His grandsons and his horses were the light of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Ann; brother Eugene (Mick); and sister, Rachel Quance and her husband Harvey. Harold will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Gertrude; sons, Ronald of Burnsville, MN, and Mark (Patti) of Brooklyn Park, MN; grandsons, Benjamin, Edward, and Maxwell; great grandson, Wesley; and sister, Nancy (Dale) Resch.
