Harold Plieseis

Our father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully on November 8, 2020, at the age of 83.

Harold Harry Plieseis was born September 17, 1937, to the late Ervin and Adelia Plieseis in Nicollet County. He was baptized October 17, 1937 and confirmed May 17, 1953.

Harold attended New Auburn School until the eighth grade. He worked on his grandparents’ farm until he joined the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on September 27, 1957, after serving in the Korean War.

Harold was united in marriage to Shirley Patricia Proden on December 26, 1959. They made their home in Glencoe, MN, and were blessed with three children, Victoria, Patricia and Thomas.

Harold was a jack of all trades and an extremely hard worker. He specialized in construction and actually owned his own construction business for many years. He grew tired of all the headaches of owning his own business and went to work for Weis Construction up until he retired.

Harold and Shirley moved to Pine River, MN, in 2000 to their retirement home that he built with his blood, sweat, love and help of family and friends. They enjoyed forty-five years of marriage until Shirley’s death in 2005.

Harold spent his retirement enjoying life to the fullest in Pine River, MN, and Mission, TX. He loved spending time with family and friends, riding his Harley, playing SkipBo and loved his brandy. There are so many words that can describe him. He was one of a kind and a rare treasure to those who knew and loved him.

Harold will be sadly missed by his children: Victoria Luehrs, Patty (Clint) Mueller, Tom (Kelly) Plieseis; grandchildren: Joshua (Ashley) Luehrs, Caleb Luehrs, Ke-Yanna Luehrs, Grant (Morgan) Mueller, Cory (special friend, Alicia) and SPC Cole Plieseis; brother, Robert (Barb) Plieseis; sisters: Rosemary (Willard) Anderson, Janet (Dick) Bensen, Laura (Conley) Mediger, Bonnie (Phil) Bailey; 11 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten.

Harold is reunited with his wife and love of his life; his parents; brother, Martin; and sisters, Shirley, Beverly and Judy.

Services will be 11 AM on Friday, September 13, at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Camp Ripley.
