Harold Amand Gillson, 96, of Pillager, MN died on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in Riverside Assisted Living in Pillager, MN. Memorial Services for Harold will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11:00AM at First Baptist Church in Pillager, MN with Pastor Paul Johnson officiating. Family burial at Wildwood Cemetery on Friday, September 18, 2015.
Harold was born on December 3, 1918 in Morrison County, MN to Jesse and Edith (Anderson) Gillson. He graduated from Pillager School in 1936. Harold farmed until 1942 when he entered the United States Army, where he served 10 years being honorably discharged as a Master Sargent. He was united into marriage to Margaret "Irene" Lindman in Duluth, MN on August 10, 1944. Harold then moved back to the family farm in Rail Prairie Township in 1952. Harold owned and operated Gillson Bus Service from 1952-2011. Harold was a man of deep faith, and enjoyed serving his church, holding many offices at First Baptist Church in Pillager. He enjoyed farming and gardening. Harold will be remembered for his deep faith and love for the Lord.
Harold is survived by his children, Rick (Tamara) Gillson of Pillager, MN and Roger (Kathy) Gillson of St. Cloud, MN; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Marvin Gillson; and sister, Beverly Beckman. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Irene. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
