Harold Germann, 88, of Staples, passed away on May 3, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples, with Rev. Lauren Germann and Rev. Joe Korf officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 5:00-7:00PM, Tuesday, May 10, with a prayer service at 7PM, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Harold was born September 23, 1927 in Verndale, MN to Adolph (Otto) and Rose (Uselman) Germann. He then moved to Staples with his family, where he married Suzanne Spencer on November 6, 1947 at Sacred Heart Church, and together they raised seven children. Harold worked at Harter's Men's Clothing Store in Staples, and in 1947, he began working for the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, and in 1962 he became the manager of grain inspection business in Staples. He worked for Burlington Northern in Brainerd until his retirement. Harold was a proud member of the "Table of Knowledge" and loved to share his favorite stories with friends and family. He enjoyed gardening, watching and discussing Minnesota sports, and politics. One of Harold's greatest pleasures was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Harold is survived by his children, Steve (Peg) of Staples, Margie (Martin) Etzler, of Staples, Rev. Lauren of Staples, Julie (Ron) Kuschel of St. Cloud, Jeannie (Mike) Hajek of Staples, Jayne (Tom) Olson of Staples, and Lynn (Kim) of Baxter. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sister, Mickey; and his brother, Jack. Harold resided in the Staples Care Center for the last six months of his life, where he received wonderful, compassionate care and was surrounded by love of family and friends. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
