Harold Anders Bergstrom, 76, of Merrifield, MN died at St. Cloud Hospital on Monday, February 1, 2016. Services for Harold will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00AM at Crosslake Lutheran Church with Pastor Kristin Oltmann officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30AM at the church before services on Saturday. Interment will be at Mission Cemetery. Please wear something patriotic.
Harold was born on August 24, 1939 in Minneapolis, MN to Lars and Anna (Rostberg) Bergstrom. He graduated from Roosevelt High School. Harold attended the University of Minnesota and Ausburg College. He served in Vietnam and Germany in the United States Army and received the Purple Heart. He married Patricia Hope on October 24, 1981 in Minneapolis, MN. Harold worked for 36 years as a driver for Metropolitan Transit Commission. He also worked in the concrete business with his brother. Harold and Patricia moved to Mission Township in 2000, where he was a resident until the time of his death. Harold enjoyed traveling, watching sports including the Minnesota Gophers, Minnesota Twins, hockey, speed skating, and football. He also coached Women's Fast Pitch Softball. Harold was very active in the Crosslake American Legion where he was currently serving as the Membership Director and also served as the past Commander. Harold served as the past 6th District Commander. He was very proud of his Swedish background.
Harold is survived by his wife, Pat; brothers, Lloyd and Bob Bergstrom; and sister, Anna Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lars and Anna; three brothers, Donald, Louie, and John; and three sisters, Margaret, Bonnie, and Martha. Memorials are preferred to the Crosslake/Fifty Lakes American Legion Building Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, MN.
