Harlen Keith Sorsveen, 81, of Brainerd, died on Monday, December 12, 2011 at St. Otto's Hospital in Little Falls. A Celebration of Harlen's life will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Cypress Room 13060 Cypress Drive Baxter, with Pastor Jerry Nimeth officiating.
Harlen was born on October 19, 1930 in Brainerd, MN to Adolph and Edythe (Dougherty) Sorsveen. He married Shirley (Hoskins) on November 17, 1950 in Brainerd, Minnesota. Harlen worked for Ford Motor Company and BNSF Railway as a sheet metal worker. Harlen was a member of NARVRE UNIT 127. He loved hunting, fishing, and golfing, and all forms of NASCAR racing. He also loved reading, travel, historical, and Louis L'Amour books.
Harlen will be sadly missed by his wife, Shirley; children, Vicki (James) Klein, Lynn (Jerry) Nimeth, Joley(Steven) Larsen, Kay (David) Pederson, and Jeffrey (Trish) Sorsveen; seventeen grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers; Regina Ricipato, Charles (Reta), and Kathy (Joseph) Janowiak; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stanford; great-grandson, Travis Kaikkonen.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services.
