Harland Van Duyn 84, of Baxter, MN passed away on November 21, 2022 of Lewy body dementia. Harland was born on November 20, 1938 to Neva and Frank in Bagley, MN. He attended high school in Arthur, ND. While in high school he worked with his dad as a farm laborer. He was then enlisted in the United States Army at 17 years old and stationed on Enewetak Atoll during the atomic bomb testing. Harland married Mary Lundby in 1963 and had two daughters Sherry and Brenda. In 1984 he married Victoria Lesmeister and together raised son Andrew.
Harland was passionate about helping people as a loyal employee of U-Haul for 46 years. He lived most of his life in Rosemount, MN. He loved fishing, gardening, playing cards especially cribbage, agate picking, driving and repairing fast cars, and watching the Vikings. He was proud to be 40 years sober in Alcoholics Anonymous and helped and sponsored many recovering alcoholics.
Harland is survived by his wife Vicki, sisters Renee Skalski and Rita Fandrich, daughters Sherry (Tim) Parker and Brenda Exe, son Andrew Corey, grandchildren Ben (Toni), Jessica (Chris), Mitchell, Crystal, Erika, Joshua, and Alexa, and great grandchildren Greyson, Owen, Lara and Hudson.
Services will be held at Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN on December 1, 2022 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm.
