Harlan Spree, 77, of Breezy Point, died August 5, 2015 at Essentia Health - St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. Services will be held on September 12th at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Parkersburg, IA.
Harlan was born September 16, 1937 in Butler County, IA, the son of William and Tena (Ridder) Spree. Following his graduation from Parkersburg High School, Harlan was united in marriage to Janice K. Pruisner at the Little Brown Church in the Vale near Nashua, IA on his birthday, September 16, 1955. The couple made their home in Parkersburg and Harlan worked for 10 years at Rath Packing Plant before dedicating 30 years to John Deere in Waterloo. He was proud to retire as a Dyno Operator.
Harlan was a fan of the outdoors. He liked to fish, boat, ski, work in the yard, or just relax and watch the birds. Blessed with the ability to figure out how things worked, Harlan enjoyed tinkering at home to fix and make anything work. He was a sports enthusiast and an avid Twins and Vikings fan.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jan; children, Debra (Jim) Galpin, of Denver, IA and Brenda (Kevin) Sievers, of Tripoli, IA; sister, Esther Brouwer; grandchildren, Michael, Erin, Kileann, Kelli, and Lucas; and great-grandchildren, Elliot, Brady, Langley, and Brecklynn. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Eddie and Calvin.
