Gwen Laing

Gwen E. Laing, 88, of Lake Shore, died Friday, January 12 at Parkview Care Center in Buffalo, MN. Services for friends and family will begin 12 PM, Thursday, January 25 at Brenny Funeral Chapel Reception Center in Baxter with a luncheon followed by services with Revered Jim Rogers officiating. Interment will follow services at Greenwood Cemetery in Nisswa. lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Timber Bay Youth Camp, Box 605, Long Lake, MN, 55356-0605.
Gwen was born April 17, 1918, the daughter of Clifford and Blanche (Pennington) Johr in Los Angeles, CA. Growing up, Gwen enjoyed spending her summers with her two sisters, Virginia and Betty on Middle Straits Lake near Pontiac, MI. After high school, Gwen attended Albion College for three years before she married Oswald "Ozzie" Laing on June 1, 1942 in West Palm Beach, FL. Gwen enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her two boys, Craig and Jeff. She also had a great time traveling, especially to Hawaii and Europe. Gwen was proud of her golfing accomplishments and was committed to being a good Christian and felt the importance of God in her life.

Gwen will be missed by her sons, Craig (Kathleen) Laing, of Annandale and Jeff (Cindy) Laing, of Maple Grove; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Kelly, of Vero Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, and sister, Virginia.

Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
