Gregory Ray, 75, of Brainerd, passed away peacefully on Monday June 24, 2024, in Brainerd.

A graveside service will be held on Monday July 1, 2024 at 10:00am at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd. There will be a Gathering of Friends and Family following the graveside service at the Northland Arboretum beginning at 11:00am. Lunch will be served. 

Gregger or Smiley, as we called him, had a very unique life as a traveling hoboe for over 25 years. He got to know much of America, less traveled and the beautiful areas of her. He once said “You should come with me to watch the beautiful sunsets in California. They are relaxing to see setting from the top of a box car on a train.” Greggers, we hope you are riding those rails now.

He leaves behind Clinton Ray, Victoria (Gary) Ahlbrecht, Wyatt Ray, Brian (Marlys) Ray, Angela (John) Scott, Scott (RuthAnn) Ray. 

Those who left already are his mother Frances E. Ray, brother E. Mark Ray and sister Elizabeth Ray. 

Special family members of Silver Maples, to his card-playing partner, those who sang and danced, watched westerns and Scooby-doo, fished or visited him, a very special Thank You. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen in Brainerd, Minnesota.

Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
