Grace K. Lorber, age 81, of Wright, WY, formerly of Motley, MN, died September 24, 2001, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, WY. Services are scheduled for Monday, October 1st, at 10:30 AM, at St. Michael?s Catholic Church in Motley, with Fr. Robert Landsberger officiating. Burial will follow in the Motley Public Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, September 30th, from 4 to 8 PM. Rosary will begin at 6:30 PM and will be led by Janet Feakes and JoAnn Shequen (daughters of Earl and Alice Lorber) with Parish prayers to follow. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
Grace Katherine Harvey was born on October 9, 1919, in Brainerd, MN, to Earl and Katherine Harvey. Grace attended school to the 9th grade and then went on to complete school to become a licensed Beautician. She worked at various Beauty shops in the area until her marriage to Leo A. Lorber, Jr. on January 13, 1942. Other places of employment over the years were ElRay Motel and Madden Resorts. The couple farmed together on the Lorber farm until Leo decided to try the Carpentry trade. They live on the farm until Leo?s death on April 10, 1978.
Grace was a member of St. Michael?s Catholic Church in Motley, MN until moving to Wright, WY. She was active in the Christian Women?s group of St. Michaels Parish and assisted in many church breakfasts and dinners. Grace also found the time to keep a garden and her much loved flowerbeds. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake and try out new recipes. She was always ready to share her cooking and baking with all who stopped to visit ? especially her grandchildren!!! In later years Grace loved to travel, and she flew to California to spend winters with her son, Lou Lorber. She also enjoyed traveling to visit her daughter, Diane, in Wyoming. Grace is survived by 3 sons, Louis Leo Lorber (Martha) of Santa Clara, CA, Steven Douglas Lorber (Betty) of Motley, and Michael Patrick Lorber (Sandy) of Motley; a daughter, Diane Grace (Lorber) Allquer of Wright, WY; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, her parents, 2 brothers, and a sister.
