Gordon C. Youngblom, 83, of Pillager, MN died on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Essentia Health/St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd, MN. Services for Gordon will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at First Lutheran Church in Pillager, MN with Pastor Hector Merced officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM-12:00PM at the church before services.
Gordon was born on June 20, 1932 to Emil and Florence (Webster) Youngblom. He was a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Gordon married Sharon Nickel on June 6, 1964 in Lafayette, MN. They moved to Pillager where they have made their home. Gordon worked for Camp Lincoln, Brainerd Recreational Supply, and Lumbertown. He enjoyed his dogs, watching MASH, and the Minnesota Twins. Gordon was a member of the American Legion for 61 years. He was also a very active member of the First Lutheran Church in Pillager, where he was known to always be sitting in the same spot on Sunday mornings with a smile on his face.
Gordon is survived by his spouse of 51 years, Sharon; sons, Dan and Tom (Sandie) both of Pillager, MN; brothers, Virgil (Shirley), and Jerome (Pauline). He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Florence. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
