Gordon Langness

May 28, 1956 — January 31, 2019

Gordon “Gordy” Keith Langness, age 62, of Brainerd passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, January 31, 2019. A gathering of Gordy’s family and friends will be at Brenny Funeral Chapel on Sunday, February 10, 2019 from Noon until 3 p.m.

Gordon was born on May 28, 1956 in Thief River Falls, to Harvey and Emma (Nygard) Langness. He attended Grygla Elementary School and graduated from Newfolden High School in 1974. Gordy studied drafting at technical college and achieved two Associate’s degrees. In 1980 he began working for Artic Cat, and then began working at Holiday gas station. He moved to Brainerd in 1988 and continued working his way up at Holiday, first in downtown Brainerd and then at the Mill Avenue store, where he became a manager and an undercover security officer. He also designed a cooler tray for use in convenience and grocery stores. Gordy was incredibly friendly and helpful to everyone he met, and was a well-known and well-loved part of Holiday. A hard-working man, Gordy believed in loyalty, honest, and respect. He enjoyed spending his free time with family and friends. He loved photography and traveling, having visited almost every state in the U.S. He also continued to enjoy drawing and drafting.

Gordon is survived by one sister, Jayne Harris (Ray Mabry) of Phoenix, Arizona and two brothers, Duane (Kathy) Langness of Thief River Falls and Gerald Langness of Grygla; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
