Gordon Haglund

Gordon W. Haglund, 89, of Crosslake, MN and Sarasota, FL died at his home in Crosslake on Monday, October 26, 2015. Services for Gordon will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 2:00PM at "The Log Church" -Crosslake Evangelical Free Church in Crosslake, MN. A Reception will follow at the Log Church.

Gordon was born on June 3, 1926 in Opstead, MN to Nils "Oscar" and Annie (Larson) Haglund. He graduated from Isle High School at the age of 16. When he was 17, Gordon enlisted in the United States Navy. Upon returning, Gordon graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Business Management. He worked for the Federal Reserve Bank, where he met Marilyn Knowlen. They were united into marriage in Minneapolis, MN on June 3, 1952. Gordon worked for the Shell Oil Company before becoming co-owner of Consolidated Oil Company first in Willmar, MN and then expanding that business into the St. Cloud Area. He was also the co-owner for more than 20 years of Merit Enterprises in Isle, MN before retiring. He was honored to be the City Commissioner of Longboat Key, FL. Gordon loved to play tennis and golf. He also liked hunting, playing gin rummy, and backgammon. He will always be remembered for being a very generous, loving, and humble person with the greatest sense of humor. Gordon's greatest accomplishment and love was for his family.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, Rob (Leslie) Haglund of Crosslake, MN; daughters, Karen (Kevin) Kropp of Paonia, CO, and Julie (Randy) Yates of Duluth, MN; grandchildren, Lindsay, Matthew, Jason, Harrison, Nick, Eric, Joel, Sarah, Meghan, John, Ruth, and Leah; and brothers, Richard and Jim Haglund. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ric; and brothers, Robert and Kenneth. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, MN.
