Gloria Jean “Jean” Naber went home to be with her Lord where she was reunited with her parents and siblings. She peacefully passed away in her sleep February 15, 2022, at her former home on Lake Edward outside Merrifield, Minnesota. She was 95 years old.
Gloria Jean Foley was born to John Simon “Jack” Foley and Sarah Esther (Mann) Foley on June 29, 1926, at their home on the outskirts of Anthon, Iowa. She was the middle of three children. She was preceded in death by both parents and her two brothers: William “Bill” Foley and Phillip Foley.
Jean attended school in Anthon, Iowa, graduating in 1944. She started her work career in Sioux City, Iowa, where she met Dan Russell Shaver. They were married in 1948 and later moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa. They had four children: Jeanine Ann Smith (husband Gene), Linda Jean Jasman (husband Randy), Heidi Jean McClurg (husband Neal), and Dennis Eugene Shaver (wife Lauretta). Dan preceded her in death in 1969. She is survived by all four children, 12 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
She later married Harm Edward Naber in 1973 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Harm preceded her in death in 1994.
Jean moved to Lake Edward near Merrifield, Minnesota, in the late 1990’s to be near her daughter Linda.
Jean was a life-long crafter. She enjoyed painting on a variety of mediums. She was an avid quilter and sewer. She also crocheted a variety of items. Many people have been blessed with hand-crafted gifts from Jean. She loved word-find puzzles and could quickly go through an entire puzzle book.
We will all miss her sense of humor, and that mischievous glint in her eyes. She had a sweet tooth. Everyone will miss the goodies she made, and we will miss the challenge of finding her secret candy stashes.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
