Gloria Fitch

Gloria May Fitch, 86, of Brainerd, died Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Good Samaritan Village – Woodland Campus. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 PM, Saturday, May 20th at Good Samaritan Society – Woodland Chapel, Brainerd, MN with visitation for a half hour before the service.

Born in Bismarck, ND on February 12, 1931, Gloria was the daughter of Erick and Mary (Harvisto) Starkka. She was raised and educated in Ludden, ND. In 1951, she married James Fitch, Sr. in Superior, WI. The couple made their home in Brainerd. In addition to raising her family, Gloria worked at Hickerson’s Garment Factory and Cragun’s Resort before spending 20 years as a cook at Brainerd Manor. She loved cooking, sewing and gardening.

She will be missed by her children, James (Linda) Fitch, Jr. of Elk River, Kathleen (Steven) Olsen, of Brainerd, Mark Fitch, of Brainerd, and Denise (David) Jessen, of Fort Ripley; six grandchildren; and siblings, Roy (Gerry) Starkkey, of Brainerd, Carl (Vicki) Starkka, of Brainerd, Raymond Starkka, of Brainerd, and Lorraine Dunlop, of Sun City West, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Erick and Mary Starrka and siblings, Helen Koski, Ralph Starkka, Mildred Zupon, Ernest Starrka, and Violet Huro.
