Gloria Devine

Gloria Devine, age 77, of Palisade, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010. She was born on January 16, 1933, in Jackson, Tennessee, to Leroy and Lucille Manely. She was the second of three children. After attending West High School in Jackson, she moved to Detroit, Michigan and began training to be a nurse. She had a 22-year career at the Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital in the surgery recovery department. After retirement, she moved to Minnesota.

Gloria was married to Willie Thomas Whitlow and from that union they had two children, Carolyn and Perry.

She had much joy in gardening, cooking and fishing. She touched many lives through her work in the church and community.

Gloria is survived by her son, Perry (Helen) Whitlow; stepchildren: Rolinda, Karlette, Martha, Darlene and Willie, Jr. Whitlow; grandchildren: Perry Jr. (Tiffany) Whitlow, Gwendolyn Whitlow, Anthony, Nikki, Toriah, and Breiah Estes; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Lucille (Leroy) Gilbert and Bertha (Bill) Amiker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn, and her parents.

Services will be 1 PM on Saturday, December 4, at Aitkin Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
