Glen D. Pfaff, 86, of Onamia, MN died on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Glen at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle, MN at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 25, 2018 with visitation one hour prior to Mass at the church with Father Ron Dockendorf officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be at Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Little Falls, MN at 3:00 PM.
Glen was born on October 10, 1932 in Grey Eagle, MN to John and Marguarite (Day) Pfaff. He was raised in Grey Eagle, graduating from Grey Eagle High School. He started working at 14 years old for different farmers, he then moved to the Twin Cities, where he worked at Drive Inns until coming of age. Glen joined the United States Army where he served our country for many years. Glen returned from the service worked for Litchfield Produce before moving to the cities, where he eventually got a job working at a Steel Plant (Paper & Calmenson) where he was an employee for seventeen years. Glenn married Esther Yanta in Minneapolis, MN on October 24, 1953 and they celebrated their 60thwedding anniversary prior to Esther’s passing on February 20, 2014. Glen was offered an Assistant Manager position at the Farmers Union Coop in Cambridge, and was later promoted to manager. He and Esther purchase their own farm in Stanchfield, raising pigs and young livestock. They also owned and operated the Scenic Bay Resort in Isle, which they owned for 12 years. Glen and Esther weren’t quite ready to retire so they moved to Wisconsin and owned and operated a liquor store in Nelson, WI. His hobbies included fishing, cards, he was a Post Commander of the Isle VFW, and loved music, playing the dobro. His greatest joy though was spending time with the family. Glen was a 55 year member of the Knights of Columbus.
Glen is survived by his children: Nancy (John) Woods of Richmond, Mark of Isle, and Paul (Cynthia) of Isle; grandchildren: Christa, Jessica, Colt, Nicholas, and Steffan; great-grandchildren: Nevaeh Tyler, Peyton, Colten, Carter, Tenley, Emma, Tayden, and Victoria; and special friends: Joan and Family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marguarite; wife, Esther; a daughter who they lost due to a car accident, Joy; siblings, Maxine, Harriet, Calvin, Bernard, Audrey, Donna, and Norman.
