Glen Alan Erbe, 70, Rainy River Ontario, Canada, beloved father, brother, uncle and friend passed away October 4, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held Friday, November 27, 2009 at 4:00 PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples. Friends are welcome to call one hour prior to the service at Brenny Chapel. A private family burial will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial preferred.
Glen was born in Staples on May 27, 1939. He graduated from Staples High School, class of 1957. In 1962, he married Marilyn Martin of Staples. Glen was preceded in death by daughter, Lena; parents, Harry and Margaret Erbe; sister, Marlene Betts. He is survived by son, Chad, Warroad; daughter, Brenda, Big Lake; brother Lynn (Dey Sey), Lincoln, Nebraska; sisters, Gale (Gordon) Martin, Pillager; Marge (Frank) Moriarity, St. Bonifacius; LaRee (Bob) Shebeck, Minnetonka; many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends in the Rainy River area who graciously helped to sustain him through his long illness. The family is also extremely grateful to the Canadian Health Providers for their exemplary care and understanding during this difficult time.
After serving his country in the Navy, Glen worked in Minneapolis for Control Data. He moved to Canada where he worked for fly-in-fishing services. From 2000 until his health began to fail, he was employed at Marvin Windows, Warroad. Throughout his years in Canada he enjoyed the great outdoors, devoting much of his time to his passion for fishing.
