Gladys Garthe

Gladys Garthe, age 88, of Brainerd, passed away peacefully late Wednesday night at Edgewood Vista in Brainerd. Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Monday, December 15, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter. Friends may call beginning at 10:30 on Monday. Interment will be in the Ft. Ripley Cemetery.
Gladys Delphine Garthe was born on August 10, 1920, at Ft. Ripley, MN, the daughter of Clarence and Bernice (Brown) Tuttle. She lived most of her life in the Brainerd area. Between 1953 and 1973 she lived in Minneapolis. In 1953 she was married to Morris Garthe. They moved back to Perch Lake in Baxter for their retirement. While living on Perch Lake she was very active in the Eagles Club, service as President in 1978. She also worked for the Brainerd Public School System from 1973 until 1983 in the food service lunch room.

Gladys will be lovingly missed by her grandchildren, Isla (Bob) Tangen, Jo Demaris, Dar (Dennis) Schultz, Marty (Renee) Leckscheid, and Andrew Nash; 8 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lucy Eva Tough; sister-in-laws; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Morris; her daughter, Lona; her son, Larry; and her brother, Robert Tuttle.
