Gladys Mae Carder, 95, of Hackensack, passed away Friday, May 21, 2010, at Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center, Pine River. She was born October 6, 1914, in Minneapolis, to Peter and Sophia Hagen. She was raised in South Minneapolis and graduated from South High. She then attended the Minneapolis Beauty School. Gladys married George Carder in 1942. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, quilting, bingo, traveling, and collecting shells on the beach. Gladys was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hackensack, and the Hackensack American Legion Auxiliary.
Gladys is survived by two children: Judith "Judy" Clarine (Jeffrey) of Faribault, Jack Carder (Rosemarie) of Hackensack; sister, Alice Klink of Brainerd; grandchildren: Justin Clarine (April), Jon Clarine, Jeffrey Clarine, Nicole Hitch (Nate), Clinton Carder; and great grandchildren, Jade and Lily Clarine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George in January of 2009, son, Roger, and brother, Arnold.
Services will be 11 AM on Wednesday, May 26, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hackensack, with Pastor Thea Monson officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Hackensack. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
