Gilbert Whittemore

Gilbert James Whittemore, age 78, of Brainerd, passed away August 7, 2011, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. He was born in Loyal, Wisconsin to Gilbert and Joyce Whittemore on September 18, 1932. He served in the Merchant Marines and later in the US Navy during the Korean War. He owned and operated Jenkins Auto Sales for many years.



Gilbert is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; children: Gilbert S. Whittemore (LaVonne), Scott Whittemore, Valerie Schulz, Chris Whittemore (Theresia); brothers, Bob Whittemore (Sharon), Charles Whittemore (Joan); sister, Nancy Brown (Bob); grandchildren, Scott (Amanda), Victoria, Brooke, David, Elizabeth, Judith, Rachel, Rebecca, Bailey, Sophia, Brandhi and Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Pauline Morick and granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace.



Services will be 10 AM on Thursday, August 11, at Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be 12:30 PM on Thursday at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Camp Ripley.
