Gilbert Parsons

Gilbert LeRoy Parsons, age 73, of Pine River, passed away at home on June 21, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 5, 1939, to William and Mary Parsons of Pine River. He served in the Air Force from 1957 to 1960, then worked in southern Minnesota for a few months with his brother, Roger. On October 22, 1960, he married Hope Knott. They had two children, Peter and Bonnie. LeRoy worked at Durkee Manufacturing for 28 years and then at Manion Lumber and Truss for 8 years until retiring in 1999. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his 4-wheeler and working in his garage. His special joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Hope; son, Peter; daughter, Bonnie Karnowski; sisters: Marian Wynn, Irene Laughton, Betty Buhlmann (Dick); grandchildren: Candis, Erin and Adam Karnowski; and great grandchild, Hailee Wise.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother DelRoy; brothers, Donald, Floyd, Roger; sisters, Doris Sorg and Dorothy Spangenberg.

Services will be 1 PM on Wednesday, June 27, at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
